ASA Co-ed question
We have a regular opponent in our local league who insists on running all of the bases whenever he flies out. Apart from taking forever about it, it really ticks off most of our players. Is there any rule against doing this, especially with runners on base, we're often confused by having the extra p...

Pitchers stats
I'm putting together our pitchers stats for the season. I'm not familiar with the scoring decision difference from baseball. The points i'm looking for clarification are; In NFHS softball: 1. Is there a minimum number of innings a starting pitcher must pitch to qualify for a win? 2. Can a reliever b...

Re: NHSF Softball Glove/Mitts rule
we've got a few "senior" umpires down here. When we did question the ruling after the game we were told, in no uncertain terms, to worry about our scoresheet and let them deal with the rules. I've always been patient with umpires, i know they have a tough job but when you call a runner out at home w...

Re: NHSF Softball Glove/Mitts rule
thanks for your quick reply. We had an opposing coach pull this one on us. Really bad situation, we lost out 3rd baseman to injury in the 3rd inning and had to move our 1st baseman over (or last sub doesn't have the arm to thrown corner to corner). She had never played 3rd base and was nervous enoug...

Re: Ball out of play
I have to agree with the original reply. The batter reached first on a throwing error on the shortstop. Then, assuming that the runner on first wasn't asleep and was advancing towards 2nd, the plus 1 rule should come into effect for the ball going out of play. Awarding both runners the base they wer...

NHSF Softball Glove/Mitts rule
We're looking for clarification on the NHSF softball rule regarding fielding gloves. Can a fielder, other than the first baseman, wear a first baseman's glove? We have been unable to find a NHSF rule addressing the topic (alot about colors and patterns, but nothing about the type of gloves) I know t...
