In the lineup, I place the DH on top on the player he is hitting for. That way I know in an instant who he is hitting for and I can place the fielder into the lineup, if the DH is surrendered during the game.rockportjack wrote:
When I fill out a lineup that includes a DH, how do I show the player for whom the DH is hitting. Often it's the pitcher, but not always.

Re: Designated Hitter
Wow! Why didn't I think of that. I just created a Practice Game and put "John Doe" on the first name line of the Lineup and entered his number 21 below in the player number blank. Then in the last name blank, I put " :45 Fred Swartz ". When I pushed Done, the Lineup shows "21 John Doe :45 Fred Swartz" all on the same line. Perfect. Now I know that John Doe is DH for Fred Swartz. And I can enter "45 Fred Swartz" in the Lineup separately as "Hitting No". That way the defense image will show each position by player number and name. Thanks for being smart enough to figure out this great work-around. Cheers,

Intersting approach.. Very creative !!!!
But Although it will help for start of a game , DH first name, defensive player last name. I suspect it will be tedious and problematic when substitutions are made . If you edit the last name of the player ( change the defender, ie new pitcher), it changes last name for all games that player is in ( program had a unigue serial number for each player throughout the app).. If you change players ( new serial number to computer) , same DH batting for new pitcher . The DH stats will be on two players
Let us know how this works our
Very creative
But I think forest users created more challenged than solves

Re: Designated Hitter
Had not thought about the downstream problems with the last name - first name work-around. Haven't used that system in a game other than a practice game. I'm going back to the "flex" marker for the player for whom the dh hits. I am assuming that putting the defensive player for whom the DH hits on the scoring screen would create downstream problems similar to those OhioTex is describing. Much simpler to sub a new DH with a new "hitting - yes" player, or a new defensive player just in the defense screen. Nuff said I guess.
