Just wanted to say THANKS!

Post by clmazin » Thu May 06, 2010 7:58 pm

I downloaded this app for the iPad today. Didn't check instructions, didn't RTFM :)

Just did my best to put it all together just minutes before a game started. And you know what? It worked. Flawlessly.

Thanks so much to the creators of the app. I couldn't be more pleased with it!

Best,

C.

I'll second that.

It is sometimes surprising to hear of people who struggle to figure things out on this app. Most things here are intuitive to me, and the ones that aren't can be figured out pretty easily because when you go down the wrong path, it is usually obvious within a tap or two, and you can undo and figure it out pretty easily.

I have been using this in Koufax regular season games and tournaments regularly since last August, and I have yet to use it once when somebody doesn't come up to me completely intrigued. Using the iPad has only added to that intrigue. I've become a very motivated salesman for FTM!

Thank you plivengood --- we find scoring with the iPad is quite the crowd magnet too. People fascinated by both the iPad itself and iScore. When scoring with the phone, people just assume you are checking email or something else... but with the iPad, people really want to know what you are up to. :)

I can certainly vouch for that. I’ve been score keeping every single game for our Pony league Bronco division with an iPhone and rarely got so much as an inquiry to what I was doing. Now that I’m using my new iPad 3G, I feel like I’m demoing both iScore and the iPad. I may need to start asking for commission from ESPN and Apple!

Hello,
I go to a lot of Little League BB games for my son. Our team needs something like this. I have a couple questions:
1. From looking at the YouTube tutorials, iScore for the iPhone is pretty small (of course). I have not purchased an iPad yet and would be buying an iPad to run this app. My question is have you written a version specifically for the iPad -- i.e. with bigger and higher resolution graphics???? This is what I'm looking for.
2. I do not see anything regarding Bluetooth integration with other iDevices. For example, the scorer is keeping score and the parents, grand parents, and family friends/spectators are in the stands. They are realy enjoying the game but can NEVER keep up with the score, outs, etc. The scoreboard only works at half our fields so they are constantly asking the score etc. You should code a "iScore Viewer" version. This lets the user run the iScore Viewer on his iPhone (for Example) and Discover the iPad running iScore and use a certain password. The iPad score keeper can choose what he allows spectators with the passsword to see -- score, inning, next at-bat, teams stats, batter stats, etc.

Any plans to do this???

Yes there is a seperate iPad version.
Yes it has some things in it that are different than iPhone version to start to take advantage of the different screen real estate, resolution, and contrast. It still inherets most of its look and feel and features from the small screen version.. but it is an app that was ready for users, day 1 of iPad release.

the bluetooth integration and in park viewing is a longer answer..

yes, there is blue tooth support in iScore, .. but iPad bluetooth and iPhone bluetooth by apple is technically different (i am told ) and not as interoperable as one would think. ok ipad to ipad or iphone to iphone, but not so good iPad to iPhone..

data sharing is another feature that is in iScorfe for iPad and iPhone, and it works great over internet connection across handhelds, iphone <-> ipad. (assuming both have internet connections)..

Data shareing is however very different than viewing/watching (real time or delayed)..

those that have internet connections and a desktop can view what FTM calls iScoreCasts, from a desktop web browserr, can view live if scorer is streaming live, or can view later if scorer uploads it after the fact./

those that have an iphone or ipad, can view playbyplay, by installing a free add on app "playbyplay" created by a forum member, (available in itunes, search playbyplay).. this is a more text based replay of the play by play events , not the iSocrecast look and feel. but great for some one with an iphone/iPad/itouch to view/watch

of course to do this live.. both viewing expereinces, playBYplay and iScorecast assume internet connections (ie 3G connection or wiFi) for both parties... not always the case in a baseball dimaond environment.

hope this helps.. Bottom line, this is the best app for scoreing baseball I have found.

I too couldn't imaging scoring a game on an iPhone screen -- until I tried it. It works very well. I originally purchased iScore for the iPad and was so impressed with how well it works that I also purchased it for iPhone to have as a backup in case of dead battery or whatever. On Tuesday, I scored a game on my iPhone while my wife scored it on the iPad. I think I actually prefer using the iPhone because it's in the palm of one hand, but they're both exceptional.
