Substitutions

Post by gnhart » Thu Mar 25, 2010 8:03 am

I am a NEW user. Like one practicce game while watching TV and usint the DVR option, PAUSE PAUSE PAUSE Now I know that will be a little difficult during my daughters A ball softball games. So here is my question. If a complete team, INCLUDING all possible substitutes is not entered before the game, How do I add a pinch runner, substitute player or whatever. Everywhere I have tried to add the sub to the line up is does not populate the suvbstition field and I can not switch the players.

More specific. I was watching a pre season baseball game, American League, with the DH. I put in the starting 10 line up for both teams and all was well until the top of the 5th inning. The #1 batter made it to first. Then was replaced with a pinch runner. I have not been able to replace #2 (original) with #13 (the pinch runner), the latter of which was not n my original line up. As I stated, this needs to be quick and easy since I will not be able to get the REAL game to pause whild I figure it out !!!

I imagine I will have the same issue with all substitutions, not just pinch runners ...
Thanks for the assist

We have training materials (videos and user guide) available at http://iscorecentral.com/baseball/training.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; that show how to handle these situations. It is actually very fast while scoring live. Just touch the player you want to subsitute for on the field (either defensive player or offensive player), then choose the player that should take that person's place.

To do it after a game is over, go to Game Manager, select the game you want to make changes to, select Pitch by Pitch, then find the pitch where you want to make the substitution, select that pitch, and a screen appears where you can make any substitutions you would like.

The problem you encountered watching a baseball game is that you do not have a complete lineup. You only had starters. You will have a complete lineup for your softball game.
One thing I do when scouting other teams when I don't have a complete lineup is that I will talk to the scorekeepers for each team to get their lineups. When that doesn't work - as some scorekeepers are coaches and they tend to "hide" that information from other coaches - I seed each team with 15 or 16 players and update the jersey numbers as each player comes into the game. You can do the same with your baseball games. Start with a 25 player roster and fill in the numbers from there.
It takes a couple of games to get a good system down if you don't have a complete lineup. You just need to play with it. The app is really easy once you get it all figured out.

gnhart - the program can handle what you need.
(aka sub in a bench player or relief pitcher hidden in the dug out)

Here is how…
after a game has started, two step process.. 1) you first have to add them to the game roster, once that is done 2) you can make a substitution like always...

1) to add a new, previously unknown player into the game, …. From the scoring screen, select MISC > Show Starting Lineup > Select Add Player …. Find or type in new player, then save and go back to scoring screen

2) To make a normal substitution, from the scoring screen tap on the defensive position (or batter ) to pull up the substitution screen. your newly added player will now be in the substitution list, select them like normal and then exit/save back to the scoring screen.

Caveat
...this is for making a substitution not for adding another batting line up spot. You must get the starting line up in before you cycle through the batting order for the first time - once you go from last batter to first, your starting line up is locked and you can not add players after that in batting order, just make subs.
