App not properly counting earned runs towards stats

Post by Dkriesel » Sat Nov 12, 2011 6:51 pm

Fast pitch softball: while keeping score, I noticed that the program is not keeping good track of earned runs to unearned. Example, two girls get on by base hit and a walk. Next girl gets on by an error, the other two girls score because of the error. I noticed that it counts the first two batters runs as unearned. Those should be counted as earned, not unearned. Is there a glitch in the system?

You did not give a complete description of the inning. One error does not mean that no runs are earned. If you can describe the sequence of the entire inning, we will better understand if things are right or not.

The program generally does a pretty good job on unearned vs earnd runs, but it is not perfect, in most situations it is solid but there are instances users have encountered that take some manual override (done in stats post game) but for most basic situations, the program is pretty good.

That said, FTM will look at specific scenerios to double check their programing logic is correct, so please describe in detail the complete inning (with all three outs) - bc it is key to earned/ unearned calculations.

The rule is to re create the inning error free to see what would have happened, the outs and the timing of errors, play a key role...it is perfectly plausible for a couple runners to get on with no outs, have nezt batter reach by error, still with no outs, and then be followed by a couple hits before the second out is recorded and have the first runs earned. That is why unclear with out knowing the full picture.....
