email from iscorecast screen "sticky"

Post by photojon » Tue Apr 29, 2014 10:09 am

I use the new "email iscocorecast" link on the scoring screen and every time I need to enter my own email address to send. I have two requests: (1) it would be nice if the value I enter in this field is "sticky" (like it is when I email myself stats). This would really help simplify those frantic few moments leading up to the start of the game. (2) on the same topic, it would be nice if that same field looked at my ios address book. I have a "group defined" as recommended on a different thread that has about 60 receipients separated by commas. If the email iscorelink could see my address book (like the email stats does), and if it was sticky, I could then essentially have a one step process to quickly email our the game link. Currently I have to enter my own email everytime and then after I received the link, forward it to my alias (group) of views.

Awesome app, even better techsupport and fourms. Keep it up guys!

You might want to consider using the Twittercast option, and the game announcements are automatically tweeted out when the game starts, so any of the followers of that Twitter account would get the link without you having to email it each game. You can also send your followers the generic link to your games (http://iscorecast.com/CUSTOMERID" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;), or create a custom scoreboard (viewtopic.php?f=6&t=8064" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) that has just the games you want parents to see, and send a link to that scoreboard. Then they will not need separate links for each game, but can always visit a single link when games are going on.

If using ios, create a keyboard shortcut for your email address. This will save several seconds there. Wont help with the separate email step.

I follow the same process as you. Email to myself then forward to a distribution list. I add a custom message to my outgoing email, so even if I could send to the list direct from within iscore, I would probably continue to use the forward email process.

+1 for sticky email address, address book access and would like to have ability to customize the message that gets sent out.

Thank your FTM and mprusak for the great suggestions and pointing out Scoreboard and TwitterCast. A couple followup questions:

(1) I really like the TwitterCast idea but many of our followers are grandparents who barely comprehend email. Is there a recommend process for emailing when a new game starts? Perhaps some way for me to have a "tweet" trigger an email to an alias? (I know that's more of a twitter question than iscore question)

(2) Mobile version of the game link: Is this sent in the twitter feed as well? Is there a way to get it from the scoreboard view? (many of our followers, including parents in the stands like to follow the mobile iscorecast link)

(3) Like scoreboards, is there a methodology for different "tweets" (different twitter accounts) depending on which team I am scoring?

1. If you use Twitter yourself, and want to automatically email that tweet to a list of people when your Twitter account receives it, there is a really nice website called http://ifttt.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (If This Then That) that lets you set up triggers to do all kinds of things on the internet (including "If I receive a Tweet, email it to XYZ"

2. There is not currently a way to get to the mobile viewer from the scoreboard view, but it is something we will add in a future update

3. There is not a method for multiple twitter accounts depending on the team --- you can only have one twitter account logged in at a time. However, like #1, it is probably possible to set up a #ifttt rule to retweet certain Tweets to different accounts.
