My first scoring experience with iScore was pretty good in most respects, but a little rough when it came to substitutions because I was given only player names, no numbers.
After a few innings, they gave me 3 offensive substitutions starting something like this - "Smith going in for Jones". I had never had any problem with this before, so I said "ok". I opened the substitution screen and I realized I had 10 batters across the top, all with number "0". I couldn't tell where Jones was in the order. My only choice was to get both names AND batting position for each sub.
I showed the other coach my tablet and said bear with me, this is my first time doing this live. We managed to work it out with him giving me the batting slot along with each substitution. But, later on, thinking through what the primary issue was, I realized the whole thing would be a non-issue if each batter in the lineup showed both name and number. Then subs could be called out by name, number, or batting position quite easily.
(The same issue exists on the defensive substitution screen, but for my purposes that is less critical.)

And this is why there should be rules at all levels of baseball and softball that players have to have numbers easy for the scorekeepers to see on both the front and back of their uniforms.
