Short Names in Twitter

Maybe there's already a way to do this ...

When I tweet information, I'd like the short name of the teams to be used in the tweets. I tend to use descriptive names for my teams (e.g., Orange Crush 16U 2011), and by the time the team name is included in the tweet, some of the message is truncated. I'd much rather see, "Crush 4, Bombers 2" than give the entire name of each team.
