I'm sure this has already been requested but I couldn't find it on the formum so is it possible for a future request to add the SBA stat's for each player? It is a useful tool for the coaches in evaluating players stolen base %'s, especially if you have several players jockeying for the lead off spot. It is also a useful tool to evaluate the opponents strenth at catcher.
Thanks in advance.

Stolen Base Attempts
Re: Stolen Base Attempts
GatorBoy.. Looks like FTM has this one covered once we get 2.0 from Apple.
SBA is already noted as a standard stat in v2.0 Stat Legend ...
FIELDING LEGEND: (V2.0)
G - Games
ERR - Errors
PO - Putouts
A - Assists
SBA - Steal Attempts
CS - Caught Stealing
DP - Double Plays
TP - Triple Plays
PB - Passed Balls
PKA - Pickoff Attempts
PK - Pickoffs
FP - Fielding Percentage (PO+A)/(PO+A+ERR)

Re: Stolen Base Attempts
Yes, I saw that OhioTex; but that was attempts to throw the runners out i.e. it was scored for Varitek and Posada who are both catchers. For this particular game it just so happended to work out that runners for both teams were safe (as it appears from the stats) thus you had two stolen bases scored for the runners and two "attempts" scored to the catcher so you know who did what. But what if one of the runners was thrown out. Then the stat would be (3) attempts by the catcher, but you would still only find (2) stolen bases in the hitting stat's. Who was the runner thrown out attempting the steal? I was looking for more of a stat for the runners attempts. Where they successful 1 out 3 times, or 2 out of 2 etc...
It would be a nice addition becasue you may have a player on your team (or your team as a whole) who steals 90%-100% of the time on a particular catcher so you would give the green light quite a bit more often with that catcher, where as you might have the situation where players on your team is only successful 20%-30% of the time stealing against a different teams catcher; in which case you play a little more station to station. I'm just looking for a way to determine which players are the better players to steal, pinch-run etc... which doesn't necessarily equate to you fastest player (althought commn sense would suggest it should). Additionally it's like a scouting tool to determine which catchers you don't want to attempt that much on. You can review the total stat's to determine which players are likely to succeed and determine a game by game situation to determine which catchers are likely to put out your runners.
Thanks for your imput though. I appreciate it.

Re: Stolen Base Attempts
We do not include Stolen Base Attempts as an offensive stat right now (or even in 2.0), only Stolen Bases. We will add attempts for offensive stats in the following release.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Re: Stolen Base Attempts
This will be so much easier and more fun once we have 2.0 in our hands ….
“Hurry Up apple… I want my 2.0”
Thanks FTM for the clarification and putting Offensive SBA on the list for future consideration .... since I saw “caught stealing” , “stolen base” and “stolen base attempts” all in the legends, I thought we would get both the "catcher side" and the "runner side" tabulated in 2.0.
However, from your response, looks like when a player is caught stealing, the CS stat will only go to the catcher (understandable ) and thus leave the unsuccessful runner ambiguous in the stat tables. (of course the scorecard will identify them and let us manually tabulate attempts for each runner that steals a base or gets put out stealing, until your future update is released)

Re: Stolen Base Attempts
The sad part is we actually calculate the caught stealing as an offensive stat internally, we just left it off the output. And of course, SBA = CS + SB, so we have all the data... just need to display it.
Re: Stolen Base Attempts
Thanks (as always FTM)..
So the program holds seperate and unigue stats inside the system for both offense and defensive categories even if named the same like SBA or CS.. so, we have
Offense:SBA, Offense:CS, Offense:SB
and Defense:SBA, Defense:CS,
makes sense.. therefore
Version 1.6 reports out Offensive:SB
Version 2.0 makes the defensive:SBA and defnsive:CS visible (plus defensive assists and put outs)
future version will make offensive:SBA (or offensive:CS) visible . and we will have the complete picture
cool..
