Re-assigning an error
Re-assigning an error
This may be obvious, but I'm still a newbie and I can't figure it out.
The short version is that I had the wrong player listed as playing right field when an error occurred. Girls fastpitch almost always allows free substitution, and players come in and out regularly. I just missed the change in right.
When I go back to the pitch-by-pitch and substitute the correct player into right field, it still assigns the error to the player that I originally (and mistakenly) had playing right field. I need to make sure that the correct player is playing right field and is assigned the error and that the incorrect player, who was not even on the field, does not receive the error.
This seems like something that should be editable. Scorers change errors all the time, sometimes weeks after the game.
Can somebody tell me the proper way to accomplish this? THANKS.

Re: Re-assigning an error
This is something that is done all the time... just go to the pitch by pitch listing, select the pitch where the player should have come into the game, then select Edit next to substitutes and put in the correct player. All stats should be updated automatically. You can verify the player was substituted by checking the Play by Play listing on the Admin Website and making sure the player was substituted BEFORE the play took place, or by looking at the Scorecard and verifying the player was substituted.

Re: Re-assigning an error
I figured it was, because errors sometimes get changed days after a game is played. But I did what you suggested. I made sure that the player B was substituted for Player A at the beginning of the inning in question. But even though the program said that the substitution had been made and player B was shown as playing right field, it still listed the error as being made by a player A, who wasn't even listed as being in the game anymore. I will try it again tonight and see if I can get it to work.... Thanks for trying to help me!
Re: Re-assigning an error
From the game info screen touch play, then exit. This will force a recalculation of your stats that should correct the player A, B scenario above.
Re: Re-assigning an error
if after doing the suggestion by danmcc, and still have the problem..
are you using an iPad or iphone/itouch device?

Re: Re-assigning an error
@danmcc: I tried this just now and it did not force the change. Player B still shows as being the the right fielder. But the dialog says that Player A (who is not on the field) made the error. Even weirder is that the stats now show no error on either of them.

Re: Re-assigning an error
as poted elsewhere in the forum, There are a few bugs in pitch by pitch editor on the current ipad version (v 2.75). they have reportedly been fixed by FTM in version awaiting approval from apple. (any day we hope). i am not 100% sure, but this sounds like it falls in that category. Two choices, wait till update or b0 export data and email support at FTM with device Id and info and they can verify if it is part of the bug.. personally, I would just make a note and wait to try when update comes out..
Re: Re-assigning an error
@OhioTex: OK. I will stay tuned and watch for update. Poor phantom right fielder...the last thing she needs is error she didn't commit....she already has plenty of REAL ones that she did commit.
