Post game edit question

Post by ixamnis » Sun May 01, 2016 11:12 am

Runner on first base, batter hits line drive to fence. Runner scores from first and there is a play on her at the plate. I had it scored for the batter as a double but reached third on the throw. After the game I saw where the official scorekeeper had scored it as a triple for the batter. So I tried to go back in pitch by pitch on iscore to edit it, so the stats would match and found changing the play to a triple for the batter was not an apparent option. I know I can go back and undo the game to that point, but just wondered what the logic was that didn't allow changing the play to a triple. My only options for where it says batter hit line drive for double are "double", "single with error" or "ground rule double". Where it says batter goes to third "on the throw", I do have the option to change it to either "advanced by batter" or "held up" instead of "on the throw". Would that change the official stats so the batter is awarded a triple or do I still have to manually change the stats to give the batter a triple instead of double?

You would have to override stats to set it to a triple. We have the option of changing a Triple to a Double + Error post game, but you can't go the other direction... so if you are ever in doubt, give the batter the bigger base hit, and you can later reduce to a lesser hit with errors post game if needed.

You are correct, you can not 'add a base' in pitch by pitch editor post game , you canonly 'reduce a base by adding an error'

So what you can do is add a note in pitch by pitch editor to explain and then manually override the stats in game info screen > batting stats > click on 2b column and change from 1 to 0 and then 3b column from zero to 1. All good stat wise now.

The reason you can not make the edit post game is a longer story. But basically the program limits changes that it allows to not confuse it internally. Because of the intricacies in the program, and dependencies of one action on another , pitch editor limits changes . Example can't change a Safe reach to an out as it would change later force outs and perhaps create 4 outs in an inning)
