Roster Name after Player Merge (resolved w v5.0)

Love iScore. It is a great and reliable app. I have a question ...

I setup a new team with a quick roster. Found out while scoring 1st game there were players that I already have in my player list. So my plan was to merge players after the game. Question is what name should appear in the roster after the merge of a player?

For example, I have a roster with Player 1 on it and I just scored a game with him. Realized Player 1 was really John Doe. So after game I merged Player 1 *into* John Doe. John Doe now has stats from most recent game and all looks good. But when I got to the team roster I still see Player 1. When I select Player 1 in the roster, the Player Info screen is blank for First Name and Last Name field. Player Card is blank.

I was thinking I'd see the merged name, John Doe, in the roster. But maybe this isn't the case since I've merged *out* of this one? Do I need to replace Player 1 on the roster with John Doe? Or should I be going about this differently?

I have had "All" league and one custom league selected for all of this.

Thanks.
Brad

Sounds like you did the merge correctly and normally the program will update past games players names ... But sometimes it takes a 'forced recalc'.

There are a few different ways you can "help" force the recalculation. Try thease tricks,

From very siimple to more complex..

A) restart app
close and re open iscore app

B) recalc stats
Game Manager > select game > select batting stats > select recalc

C) recalc game over
Game manager > select game > play > (game over) > undo > tools .. update/view scorecard And stats, > redo > (game over) > exit

d ) starting line up
game manager > select game > pitch by pitch game editor > game start event > edit starting line up> tap each player to view their info ( generally this works)

One of the above methods should work

Thanks for the quick response.

I went through all of A through D above, and when I was in there I saw the correct name (John Doe) show up with all stats. So name/stats seem to be good for the game itself, but when I go to the Roster in Team Manager, name fields are blank and no stats.

Thanks again for your help.

Try Same 'nudge' on roster in team manager..

a) Team manager > select team > select roster > tap on each player to see their player info page

b) Team manager > select team > select team stats > recalc

Normally the player info will update across the program without this extra effort. I am not sure why some times it does not

Thanks, I've tried all of your suggestions but still end up with empty player names and stats in the roster of Team Manager.

Recently updated to iOS 10.1.1 FWIW.

Thx
BK

Are the "post merge names" updated in the games, But not in the team roster ?

If so, try this..
Game Manager > pitch-by-pitch editor > game starts > starting line up edit> home/visitor > option > copy line up to roster

One of the things that may be going on is a subtle unigueness of 'quick roster players'

By default quick roster players (Player1, Player 2, etc) are 'unique' in how iscore handles internally. For example, they don't show up in player manager until they get renamed... I am not sure what all happens under the covers, but i tend to rename them BEFORE i merge them, and things seem to synch. if starting from scratc, I would rename the "quick player" in my games ( in starting line up ) before merge. Example change quick roster player 1 to john doe 'temp'. After that, i go to player manager and merge John Doe (left side) with John Doe Temp (right side)

Once again, thank you for your quick reply and help.

I did actually give them a name during the game (sorry I left that out in my explanation, was hoping to keep it simple/clear)... John D is what I used in this example. I then merged John Doe (left) with John D (right).

I seem to think I've done this before and had it work fine. I may go back and try and reproduce to see if it's a fluke or something.

Any other ideas?

Just saw your other post... When I went into pitch-by-pitch editor and copied lineup->roster, I now have both entries. I have the full John Doe but I also have the "empty" player (John D) with blank names and stats. So, I guess I can just go through and delete the "empty" players. Strange.

GREAT, ! as convoluted as it was to correct- you are now happily "resolved"? Sorry did not get there faster.

To not have repeat problem in future, i think the best practice is to Rename before Merge.
