Caught Stealing not showing up correctly on ScoreSheet?

Post by atennant » Mon Apr 19, 2010 8:57 pm

I scored a game yesterday with a pair of pitch outs, both resulting in the runner being caught stealing. They were recorded as

Runner->Out->Caught Stealing->2->5 and Runner->Out->Caught Stealing->2->4

In the playbook, however, it simply shows the CS next to the basepath, but no 2-5 or 2-4 on the play. It does appear that the PO and CS stats are properly attributed to the Catcher, Second baseman and Third Baseman, but in the documentation where you show a CS play, the fielding defense is also listed (2-5) or (2-4).

Just curious if I have perhaps mis-scored the play, and that is why I'm not seeing the play order.

Thanks and keep up the awesome work!!

Regards,
Andrew

With Caught Stealing, iScore internally records the "touches" as you say, so the correct players get credited with the Putout and Assist. On the scorecard, it will show the batter # that was at the plate when the player was caught stealing.

If you go to the training web page at http://iscorecentral.com/baseball/training.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, and click the "Reading the Scorebook" link, there are a bunch of examples there of what you will see on the scorecard.

Thank you.

My apologies, I should have been more specific. My confusion stems from the very scoring examples you mention. If you notice, in http://images.iscorecentral.com/scorebooklegend/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; , under the "Was for a Runner to make an out" section, the example for Caught Stealing shows both the CS with batter number as well as the 2-4 defensive play order.

When my scoresheet only showed the CS, I assumed I had not correctly scored the play.

Thanks!

Ah... good point. We made a decision at some point that the "touches" would only show for something that happened to a Batter, and not a Runner, but we will revisit this for this specific case. Thank you.

I was going to start a new topic on this but found this thread. It would be really nice if you'd show who was involved defensively in a "caught stealing" play on the score sheet...or even in the play-by-play. I'd prefer the score sheet as that's the main thing I look at after a game but noting it *somewhere* that I can see without trying to pour through defensive stats would be WONDERFUL. I keep going back to the play-by-play in these instances and then being frustrated that all it says is "caught stealing". It keeps making me think that I didn't note who was involved in the play when I originally scored it.

We still have this on our enhancement list, and hope to get to it in a future release. Thank you.
