The order of picking an Out, or In Play / also strike types

Post by mrwalls » Fri Jun 04, 2010 11:54 am

This is one thing that I know may be just my preference, but it seems to me that when I am keeping score, I don't want to wait to see if a hit ball results in an out, or a single or double, before I can at least enter in that the ball was in fact hit, and in play . To me, if I see the ball being hit, the first thing I naturally want to do is say "ball in play" and then pick out what happened, such as an out at first, or a single, etc. It just seems to flow better.

Now for strike types. I think instead of only having the choice be just a ball, or a strike, there needs to be better detail on the strikes leading up to a strikeout or hit. So I see it having the buttons that are there now, but for a strike, give it two choices, strike swinging, strike looking. It would not be good to have to have another window pop up to do this, but should be separate buttons on the main page. I know the last strike gives the choice of a strike swinging, or a strike looking, but it is as important to know this on more than just the last pitch of a strikeout.

Thanks

You can already do what you want,
tapping InPlay gives you the option of selecting out or safe. It defaults to safe but you can select out if the play results in an out.

For the case of the strikes, a Swining Strike is recorded by sliding over the Strike button. The app already has ability to record swining and looking. Tapping Strike is looking, sliding your finger over the strike button is swining.

MrWalls,
Welcome to the board.

At the top of the FAQ page is a link to some helpful tutorials as there are some unique features to iScore as noted above with swiping strike to score a swinging strike or swiping ball to score an intentional ball, etc. I have attached the link below as it was helpful to me when I first started using iScore.
