Adding a quick roster for a team to a game already scheduled
Adding a quick roster for a team to a game already scheduled
Is there any way to get a quick roster once you have a game scheduled?
For example:
I input the info for an upcoming game.
I forget to go to "Team Manager" to set up a quick roster before setting up the game
In order to get to the teams, I hit "Play"
And then there is no option for a quick roster, and instead I have to add individual players, or delete the game and start all over with setting up the quick roster first.

Re: Adding a quick roster for a team to a game already scheduled
Quick Rosters are used to create Rosters for a team. Once you have created a game, you are dealing with a lineup, and not a roster. We do not have a "Quick Lineup" feature. The problem with allowing this is you would potentially create a "Quick Lineup" for the same team multiple times, and the stats would not be reconciled at the team level (i.e. you would not get cumulative stats for the "Zebras" if you created a Quick Lineup for the team on two separate games --- you would want to create a Quick Roster for the "Zebras", then create two games from that Roster).
We are still having a hard time understanding why people want to pre-enter their schedule into iScore if they don't have the opposing team's lineup anyway. If you have the opposing team's lineup it makes sense because you can type in the opposing team's info ahead of time. (Although even then, you really only need to pre-create the team, not the game). It only takes a few seconds to create a new game between two teams that already exist on the device, and then you will get the latest roster changes in the lineup automatically for that game.
Is there an advantage we are just not understanding about having the games pre-entered (as opposed to just the teams)?

Re: Adding a quick roster for a team to a game already scheduled
All I would like is to be able to EXIT that game to go back to the Team Manager and set a quick roster there. It doesn't let you go back and says that you must have at least one batter. If there was a way to exit and go to the team manager, you can set up a quick roster and then copy that quick roster to the lineup for that particular game. Follow?
I would like to have all the games on our schedule listed, but for various reasons, I have gotten used to just entering the games the day of. If you were able to edit rosters and then copy them to the lineups (like you can copy lineups to the rosters), then entering a game ahead of time shouldn't be a problem.
There's no particular advantage. I think it's more of a case of many scorekeepers being "type A' personalities. Why would we be scorekeepers if we weren't? ; )

Thank you for the details... it helps us understand the use case better as we continue trying to improve iScore.

I too would like the ability to do a 'Copy Roster to Lineup'. I think without this ability, the scheduling feature is less useful as you very possibly have outdated lineups for games scheduled well in advance.
I really liked the idea of getting games scheduled in advance, but am questioning its usefulness as I have begun to use it. Thinking creating the game on game day is probably better.

Re: Adding a quick roster for a team to a game already scheduled
I think the pre-set games might be useful for a coach/scorekeeper who creates his lineup and positions for each inning ahead of time. He can preset his games ahead of time and not worry about it during the game, when he is probably busy doing other things. This saves time, especially in younger age groups where there are mass substitutiona each inning. For non-coach scorekeepers, setting up a game is so easy, and in-between substitutions are as well, that I think it is not very useful. I personally have never used it and have plenty of time to record substitutions between innings.

Re: Adding a quick roster for a team to a game already scheduled
I like the capability to schedule the games in advance (especially since parents will go to the team website and see what is scheduled vs. played. But since we don't have the team rosters in advance of when I schedule the games (usually don't get them until the first time we face a team... although some teams do list their rosters on MaxPreps or other websites). Once I enter the roster and then create the lineup for the game, you can do copy lineup to roster... but the next time you face the team, you can't import roster to the game that is already scheduled... This kind of defeats the purpose.

There is a Calendar tab on the Team Website that can be used to show upcoming games. The "Games" tab is really intended to show games that have been played with the results of those games.

Re: Adding a quick roster for a team to a game already scheduled
In the FastPitch Softball Tournaments I score...we usually don't get the lineups until very late in the process (i.e. minutes before the first pitch) - we often don't even know who we play next, until we walk across the park to the next field. Getting the team name in, quick roster, then create game...doing that in the wrong order can happen in the "heat of battle" - so, sometimes it would be nice if one could do quick-roster for a team that doesn't have one even after the game is created. ...otherwise, more pressure is on, to go back to the team page, do the quick roster (possibly delete the old game) then create a new game...before the first few pitches are thrown. I love the tool, but sometimes, the rigidity of the sequencing is very frustrating. Anything to help the scorekeepers out here would be very welcome.

Re: Adding a quick roster for a team to a game already scheduled
With the next update, when you get to the Starting Lineups screen to score a game, if one of the teams has no players in the lineup, you will be asked if you would like to create a "Quick Lineup" (just like "Quick Roster" from Team Manager). This should help in your specific situation.
