Re: Scoring Questions

Hi kbum -

You are right... I just scored the second scenario, and the 6-4 touches are completely lost on the scorecard. We will get this fixed for the 1.7 release.

In that specific scenario, if you are scoring 6-4 force out, it is clear that the force out was part of the Fielder's Choice, so you should not have to enter the touches again. iScore is gathering the information correctly, but the scorecard is only showing the "FC" on the batter and "FOx" on the runner where x is the batter number that was up when the force out occurred. It should show "FC6-4" on the batter and "FOx" on the runner.

We will be sure to get this fixed.

Thank you.

So this is what I did:
Batter reached on a fielder's choice
Runner on third stayed at third - held up
Runner at second to third - advanced by batter
Runner at first - out - forced out - 6-4 (in my situation)
Batter - held up at first.
That is how we score it and that is the recommended way. We will however look into the possibility of accounting for people who may bring the runner home and preventing that run from scoring. Thanks!
Hi, I'm new to the forums and just downloaded iScore ... I can't wait to try it. I'm going to play with entering some older games so I can get a feel for the controls.

I've been reading the FAQ and came across this post. I'm not sure that this is the best way to score this situation although I do recognize that there are very few absolutes in scoring. The problem with the suggested approach is that it leaves two runners on third base (I know this is being done to avoid a run scoring with two outs). I believe the correct way to score it is to have both the runner on third AND the runner on second be "held up" and the runner on first be forced out 6-4 and the batter held up at first after the fielder's choice. In this way, no run will score, the correct outs will be recorded and we won't have two runners occupying the same base at the end of the inning.

I know this question isn't the main (or even a secondary) point of this thread, but anyway, it's my thought.

Again, I'm really looking forward to this app.

With the 2.0 release there is now an option to set the man on third Safe at Home, Run Not Scored. This allows everyone to advance as expected but not count the runner advancing to home as a run scored.
