Scorecast

Post by williamroycepaige » Wed Jun 16, 2010 11:33 am

I just got my new iPad as an early father's day present. I am heading to Omaha with my son's baseball team to play in a tournament during the college world series. How do I get the games up on scorecast so that the people that could not make the trip can follow the games. My iPad has 3g. Thanks.

In 'Options' make sure the 'i-Scorecast' option is turned on.

I'll be at the Omaha Slumpbuster next weekend also. It's is supposed to be a great tournament.
Check out the iScore documentation page!

first, congrats. and enjoy a great time in omaha..

Here are some more details..

First a few questions/options...
** Are you planning on streamling live.. or uploading after the fact?
** Are your viewers going to watch by PC or iPhone/iPad?
** do you have a "team web site subscription" from FTM ?

I will assume delayed broadcast, viewers on PC/mac w/ normal web browser, and no team web site...
if other situation, reply back and can explain those too..

1) Provide viewers the link to your person iscorcast index .
http://data.iscorecentral.com/iscorecas ... X&replay=1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Where XXXXXXXXXX is your Unigue User/ customer id (find it at OPTIONS > ADMIN WEB SITE)

2) After each game you score.. when you are connected to the internet, simply go back to your game info screen, (GAME MANAGER > XYZ GAME) scroll down to bottom of options and select I-SCORECAST SYNCHRONIZE.

That is it.. the game name will show up on the top of the index list on the left menu on the iSocreCast player at the URL you provided. They click on game of choice and viola.. iScoreCast

----- alternatives ---

if you want to stream live, all you do is enable live streaming by OPTIONS > I-SCORECAST = ON
(when you need to force a sync, you will have an enabled button on the upper left of your game infor screen)

if you have a team web site, you would give them your team site URL and Passoword (instead of the url above) and then they would click on Game tab, and then the specific link for the iScoreCast game they want

If they are viewing on an iPhone/iTouch/iPad, two choices
if your are streaming live they can go to http://iscorecast.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, and enter your user id and see i-scorecast live for non flash players. if not live, they wil just see end of game result.

if they prefer a more text oriented play by play, (live or delayed broadcast) they can down load a thrid party app from a forum memnber, called playbyplay (free) from itunes and enter your customer id and see the games on their iphones ..

Wow. Thanks for the info. I have 3G on my iPad so I might as well do the live stream. I am not sure what format people will be watching from so I will need to cover all of the bases. I will try and get it set up before I leave.

Any reports on battery life with an iPad while streaming? I have read that the battery life is pretty good overall but have not heard while streaming.

i do not recall discusions in this board on iPad battery life.. that is good news.. (but do take your charger)

what i have seen is lots of comments on troubles in direct sunlight...

Heat - iPads can run hot when used in direct sunlight. try and keep cool and under shade, (take out of case if it does not breath). Some have reportded setting on cold packs to keep iPad cooler (seriously)

Glare/contrast - watch out for polarized sunglasses, they can make screen look blank. And be sure and have the latest version from, FTM v2.75, which has an alterante color contrast scheme to help iPad viewing in sunlight.

On remote viewing, Best viewed on PC and internet if they can, Just cooler expereince, remind them to turn on the sound too... also for you when scoring. make liberal use of notes because they show up on the play by play in iscorecast.... Folks like the personal color commentary and play by play comments you can make there..

again, be sure to test out before you go.. they should enjoy it...

if you are going to be scoring a lot of games .. consider the team web site service, parents and coaches of my teams have really enjoyed it..

By the end of a normal baseball game, the battery on my iPhone is usually well below 50%.

On an iPad it seems better but I would be apprehensive about trying a second game.

Would like to hear others' experiences as we're about to start a 4 day tournament (fast-pitch softball).
