API for live data

Post by elcray » Mon Jul 09, 2012 9:20 am

I know scoreboard control has been asked before and I understand that no standard exists to develop around. With that said, what about some sort of API to communicate with a device? I have found ScoreCast to be too slow to keep my coaches updated. Also, when we go places where internet is spotty, that isn't even an option. If there was some way to wirelessly (either via WiFi or Bluetooth) communicate to the device database itself, 3rd party developers (or part time hacks like myself) could develop an interface to update scoreboards and other portable devices.

What I really want to do is build a portable miniature scoreboard that mounts on the fence by the team for the field we currently play on. When we move fields, we would take the scoreboard with us. Coaches and fans could see the score, pitch count, and outs, all of which would be instantly updated as I enter data into iScore. Many of the tournaments that we play in don't even have a scoreboard, so this method would be even better for us than a commercial score board controller.

If a device API is not possible, even a simple webserver hosted on the iPad with live data would allow this process to work as well.

There is a team web site API available, but I am not technical enough to know if it is what you need, check out their web page for more info on the API or email support@iscoresports.com .

Yea, I already pay for the API for stats purposes, but data only goes here when you do an options>export, so live data would be a no go.

We do not offer an API for the live data. We have our iScorecast viewer to watch games live, but the API only makes data available after the game is over.
Check out the new iScore Baseball documentation page!
Includes videos and user manual.

We can provide an interface to drive most any scoreboard out there. We need to know how to get real time data from iScore. Baseball would be easiest to work with.

@sportzcast . That Sounds more like a business's partner discussion than community user help item. I suggest you contact Iscore directly.

From iScoreSports web site..
iScore Sports has formed partnerships to complement and extend our technology. If you have a company or product that can integrate with or extend iScore's functionality, please feel free to contact us.
