I have some feature requests

Post by calaberator » Tue May 19, 2009 9:01 am

I have tried using this program for different games one thing I have run into is I have to watch and see if the hit was a double hit, single hit, etc. and mark that on the program before I enter where the ball was hit. By then I forget when the ball was hit so I think it would be an improvement to be able to enter where the ball was hit before you enter what happened to the player and maybe keep the positions visible while your placing where the ball was hit. Also I cant tell what team is currently up to bat without looking at the batter and guessing which team he's on. I know people should know this if there familiar with the players but I think it would be a simple fix to just highlight the score of the team currently batting.

Thank you for the suggestions.

I'm not quite sure how we would be able to do the first request as it would actually have to slow down the scoring for many situations. In the situation where a player happens to have hit the ball, you would click In Play, select ball location, then say the type of hit. But for the many "In Play" situations that don't require a ball location (walk, hit by pitch, dropped 3rd strike, catch obstruction, etc) it would require an additional step as you would click In Play, and it would ask for ball location and it would not apply. So we would need a cancel button or something (which actually adds a step to the scoring process... something we definitely don't want to do).

The team at bat idea is something others have asked for as well... ideas have ranged from changing the background color on the screen to highlighting as you suggest. I think having a little arrow pointing at the team that is at bat (or an up/down arrow meaning top or bottom of the inning) might be the best way to go.

It is definitely something we will add to an upcoming release.

Thank you.

With all due respect, if you forget where the ball was hit in that short period of time, you should pass off the scoring responsibility to someone else. I dont mean to be offensive, but I really dont think either of those suggestions would help most users of this app.
