Known issues with v2.80

Post by FTMSupport » Fri Oct 01, 2010 9:15 am

A couple of issues have appeared with v2.80 that we have fixed and will be posting to Apple today. Hopefully they will have a very fast turnaround:

1. On iPhone only - using "Score a Game" to go to a game has a few issues (including getting "stuck" in the game and not being able to use Exit to get out). If you use this method to get into games, with iOS4 (multitasking), you would need to double tap your "home" button to bring up the list of running applications, tap an App other than iScore, then double tap the "home" button again and hold your finger on iScore until the minus signs appear, then tap the minus sign to make iScore disappear. The better workaround is to not use "Score a Game". All games can be scored (new or old games) by going through Game Manager. This is actually the preferred approach and does not have the same issue... everything works fine. In fact, we will likely be phasing out the "Score a Game" button in a future release (it already does not exist on the iPad).

2. On iPad only - editing the start/end time for a game in Game Summary is not working. The time adjustment screen scrolls halfway off the left of the screen. We do not have a workaround, but are posting the update today and you will be able to edit the start/end times for any games when that update comes out.

BONUS: The iPhone version is adding the ability to turn on viewing of fielder names and runner names (in addition to the jersey numbers). This will be available under the Options setting.

The following is in the category of most miniscule of issues - The home screen cuts off about half of the "i" at the bottom of the screen when the following occurs (on iPhone4/iOS4.1 w/iScore 2.80.98):
- Game Manager, select a game, select Play
- select Misc, Show Starting Lineup, Done
- Exit, OK
- Back, Back.

i echo seeing that behavior, "i falling off the bottom of the home screen".
I have had it happen to me multiple times,
but have not been as dilegent as johnemc to note the specific steps when it happens to repeat it on a consistent basis.

There is also an issue with "Error" calculations on the Recap screen that will be fixed in the version we are submitting to Apple today. If you have multiple errors on the same player in an inning, the recap currently only counts that as a single error for the half inning. This has been fixed and will automatically appear correctly with the patch (v2.81).

We submitted the updates to Apple for v2.81 which fixes the issues with going in through "Score a Game" on iPhone instead of "Game Manager", the "start/end date setting" on the iPad version, and the Error calculation issue in the recaps.

We requested an expedited review so will see if that gets the updates approved any faster.

Just got notification from Apple that the iPhone version 2.81 has been approved --- you should see the update available later today.

NOTE: You can optionally turn on an option in the scoring screen to view fielder and runner names by clicking the little Game Settings icon in the bottom right of the scoring screen and set "Show Names" to ON. This looks best on the iPhone 4's with the retina display, but still looks OK on the older displays as well... that is why we made it an option. And it is OFF by default.

V2.81 for the iphone is now in the app store....(not yet for iPad)
( fyi, the version number on home screen of iScore will still show 2.80.98 After install
you can verify you have 2.81 installed by seeing if "show nams" option is on the game setting page (tool icon bottom right of game scoring screen )

Again, always good idea to export before updating, just as a precautionary measure.

Looks like the iPad version has been approved and should be out shortly. We will be submitting another update shortly for both iPhone and iPad. When that is posted, we will post details in the forum as usual.
