Team search feature...
Team search feature...
When a team sets up a website, can there be a feature where they can enter their team's city, state, and zip code (possibly county, too)? Then, on the FTM website we can search for teams that use iScore. It would be kind of neat to find teams in my area that use the app and I could follow their progress, contact them for games, etc.

Re: Team search feature...
If you go to http://iscorebaseball.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; you can search for teams. We do not ask for location information (city, state, zip) as we respect people's privacy --- most of the teams using iScore are youth teams. But you can search by team name and manager name there.
We may create an "opt in" approach in the future for those that do want to supply more searchable information can.
Thank you for the suggestion.

you can add location to your profile on this board..
(I found and iscore user who we played against last summer that way, they saw my location and we connected through the forum)

The ability to look up teams is a feature of one of your "competitors" and I kind of like it. If someone with iscore pays for the website in order to showcase their team, I'm quite certain they wouldn't mind making their team public and searchable.

The "competitor" also requires you to sign away the rights to all data as part of their license agreement --- anything you score with their product is owned by them, and reproducing it in any way is breaking their agreement.
We prefer to let users own the data they create and do with it what they want. Seems right that if you are doing the work to score the game that you should own the data you are creating.
We will likely create a way to easily opt in/opt out of being searchable in the future, and add more optional search fields as well, and at the same time you will continue to own your data and can do with it as you please.

Oh ok. Take it easy! I didn't know that part.
Re: Team search feature...
that's what I told our league when they were reviewing options, that the licensing terms are completely different... Plus iScore had the better data structure for the leagues in the long run. Don't know if they committed one way or another, but I'll keep using iScore.
