Option to suppress display of rows for players with no data?

Post by bmclaurin » Sun Aug 28, 2011 10:27 am

Could you add an option to suppress the display of rows on the stats pages for players with no applicable data for the league being displayed? It appears that the team website will show a row for every player on the roster, regardless of whether they have any applicable data for the selected league.

This would be helpful for those of us that would like to track multiple seasons of the same team on the same website. You don't always have the exact same roster. Players leave rhe team for various reasons, and players get added. If I select the "2011" league from the dropdown box, I don't want to see players listed there that played on the "2010" team but are no longer on the "2011" team. I realize that I can start a new website for the 2011 team, but I don't want to do that. It's not that I'm trying to circumvent the fee--in fact, I have already paid the website renewal fee.

Just a simple option in the Settings page on the team website to suppress display of inapplicable players would do the trick.

Thanks for consideration.

Not showing players that have 0's means when the season is new, many players that are truly on the team will not be shown at all. You would not see players that were at the game and did not happen to register any stats. If this is what you intend, and other would like to see this as well, we will look into adding it.

Yes, that is what I intend. Perhaps a more elegant (but probably harder to implement) solution, would be to have an "active" and "inactive" field for each player on the roster within the app. Then you could filter whether you want active, inactive, or both to display on the stats pages. But in the meantim, the option to suppress the display for players with no applicable stats would be a workable solution. Thanks.

Interestingly, the pitching stats section of the team website already does this by default. Would be nice to at least have the option of having the batting and fielding stats do the same (or have it default to that just like the pitching section).

+1 to surpress players who are on the roster but not in the game and have no data yet.

I would like to add my vote for this request for what it's worth!

FTM, it looks like you incorporated the active/inactive player concept into the latest app release (3.35.215). Any way we could get the ability to filter on that field in the team website? This would be an awesome solution to my OP.

Good point bmclaurim

Right now, the inactive status has limited benefits, ....it surprises the player from showing up in new game line up (which is nice). But does not surpass them in team stats on handheld device or on team web site..

I think part of the idea was to be able to surpress their stats from the team site..

Currently inactive players on team site are list at the end of the roster, but no indication as to why (inactive)
