You may want to consider investing in a standalone iTouch. The iScore Apps work great on an iTouch (for some even better as it is not interrupted with phone calls, and has better battery life). I know an itouch is a sizeable investment, but it is an option. (you can get discounted models on the net and apple clearance store). For some, the hardware cost is worth the investment just to have the iScoreBaseball app for their travel clubs.
(by the way, I am a Verizon blackberry user too, ... have found having my phone/email and iScore on separate units helpful - i often have others score for me now....).
OhioTex,
I can understand what you are saying, and truly appreciate your thoughts.
I am the type that the less devices that I carry the better off I am. I actually use my Storm2 during the games that I coach for lineups, and other information that I store on it for my sons team. I get no interruptions during the game as I turn off the radio, so I do not have to worry about email or telephone calls. As far as battery life goes with my Storm2 I can go 8 hours of heavy usage without having to recharge. If I need an extra batterythen I can always carry one with me and pop it in unlike with an iPhone/iTouch, but that is not the discussion here.
I just do not find the need to spend another $200 on another device to carry around when I have a device that is just as capable to run an application like iScore on it. This sounds like a monopoly if you ask me where a device is being touted in order to sell an App. The App should be available to all platforms to broaden its appeal to the marketplace instead of being limited to one segment; marketing 101 here.
I am hoping that the folks at Faster Than Monkey will see that the Blackberry platform is a viable platform to add to their lineup as there are many Blackberry users that have kids as well as themselves that play in either little or adult baseball/softball leagues that could value from this application. iPhone/iTouch OS owners are not the only ones out there that have kids as well as themselves that play in either little or adult baseball/softball leagues. Plus in addition Blackberry has a greater percentage of the smartphone market overall according to todays Wall Street Journal at 20.8% up from 15.9% a year ago. The iPhone OS share is 17.1% up from 12.9% a year ago. WinMo is at 7.9% down from 11.1%. With Andriod currently at 3.5% of the market share up from 0% a year ago. The majority share is still Symbian at 44.6% of the market down from 49.7% a year earlier. According to WSJ Blackberry Market Share has increased .7% more this year than the iPhone OS. So wouldn't it make sense to make a version of iScore compatible for BlackBerry? I would think so.
