Starting game positions - after the fact

Post by frachel » Mon Jun 17, 2013 7:18 am

Many times (most games in fact) all I have are the lineups. Managers don't give the other managers the positions.

So typically I start scoring as I walk around trying to figure out what kids are where, or sometimes I simply forget to put kids in the positions until a few pitches into the game.

My question/observation is this. If I use the scoring screen and tap a player, it brings up the field view where i can assign kids, however, this goes in as substitutions. So if we're already 5 pitches in, if i assign the pitcher that way, his pitch count starts at 0 instead of 5.

If I go to the "show starting lineup", 1st thing is that i have to go player-by-player to assign positions - is there a way (or an enhancement request) to bring up the "whole field" view and assign positions quickly? But forgetting that, even if so "show starting lineup", pick a kid and change him to "P", when I go back to the scoring screen it still shows "?" for the pitcher.

So the general question is - if I'm already into scoring - what is the correct way to put the players at starting positions that don't result in them being substitutions, thus losing anything up until they were "substituted"?

Thanks.

the correct way to do this is misc-show starting lineup. I try to do between batters when I can or after the first half inning if necessary (just keep notes.) Depending on your device, you can easily tap the position location on the starting lineup screen and edit the position. This saves time rather than entering each player and editing position on the secondary screen.

Not sure why the P is not showing up for you after making the edit. It should. Unless you are talking about the iscorecast screen for home viewers. Mid game starting lineup changes require an iscorecast synchronization in order for edits to show up.

I'm on an iPad btw.

Interesting - now it's working (putting in the person when I go back to scoring screen). I'll try a a new test game and see if I can reproduce getting it to not work.

As for the assigning of positions from the "Show starting lineup" list of players, I didn't realize you could press the little box after the name (to the left of "Batting") to assign the position. I was going into each player and choosing there. I'd still prefer the "baseball field view" that comes up when you press a position in the scoring screen to do substitutions, but this way is quicker than what i was doing!

Off to try and recreate the issue..
