Pinch Runner?

Post by Paul » Thu Jan 14, 2010 6:10 pm

I know it isn't baseball season, so thanks in advance for any tips you may have. I scored the Tigers - Twins one game playoff to get a feel of how this app would work.

After some screw ups of things (did you know that if you have runners on first and third and the batter grounds into an inning ending FC, you can still advance the runner home?) and other things, I wanted to see what the scoresheet looked like.

The players that were inserted as PR's aren't noted as such in the scoresheet. It shows them coming in the game with the dash (which I assume means "same" since there was a player changing positions and that worked fine) under position, so I couldn't tell who of the four guys who batted in that spot came in as a PR or who stayed in the game after being inserted as a PR.

I hope that made sense. If you have any tips on that, it would be most helpful. Thanks in advance.

We will add better notations on Pinch Runners to our list of enhancements for a future release.

The option for a player to score on an inning ending FC is a possibility. It is up to the scorekeeper to decide if the run should score or not. An example of this would be:

Runners on 1st and 3rd
Grounder to short stop
Shortstop throws to home trying to get the runner (who knows why he would do it instead of a force out, but he could), but runner is safe
catcher then throws to third trying to get the runner that was going from 1st all the way to 3rd on the throw and gets him out at 3rd base.

In this case, the runner makes it to first on a fielder's choice (even an unsuccesful attempt at getting another runner is a fielder's choice, not a base hti), the run scores, and the runner runner that was originally on first is thrown out at 3rd.

As unlikely as the scenario is, it is a possibility.

Thank you for your feedback.

Yeah, I guess that would have been scored a FC. I wasn't doubting your knowledge, I was just hit Advanced By Batter to get past it as quickly as I could.

Thanks for the PR thing, that would be a big help. Just to know when certain players are used.

Thanks agian!
