Changing a hit to an error

Post by suttio » Thu Apr 22, 2010 6:31 pm

I am trying to go back into the game manager to change a hit to an error. We has a situation on a deep pop up that the right fielder was camped under but just missed the ball for whatever reason. Originally I called it a hot because it never hit the fielder or his glove, however I wanted to be consistent with the coaches score book and I need to change it to an error. I was also originally thinking of an error but was generous I guess.

The problem is I can change the player scoring on the play from second to an error on the outfielder but when I try to change the hit to an error I can't get past the more button. I can push it but it doesn't do anything except change color when I push it.

Am I missing something?

Please export your database (Options->Export), and email us your customer ID (bottom left of Options screen), and let us know the game and play in question. Send email to support@iscorecentral.com. Thank you.

I am having the same exact issue. I need to change a hit to an error and can't get past the "more" button either. What was the solution for this?

It is going to depend on the specific data. Example of what you can do in Pitch by Pitch - change a single to on base by error. Example of what you can not do - change a double to a single + error getting runner to second. This requires 2 "events" in the database and you would be trying to change the single "batter advancing from home to second" into a "batter advancing to first on single, then runner on first goes to second on the error". We are working on increasing the types of edits that can be done post game for future releases. Thank you.

So are you saying that, because this play effected other plays, I cannot change a double to base on error? Unfortunately, this effects the pitching stats as well, so I would love to be able to correct this without having to go in and undo all the plays up until that point.

We don't know your specific situation, but yes, anything that changes more than just how a batter/runner reached a base can not be changed. In the example I gave, you are not just saying "change this event that was a double into made it to second on error", you would be trying to change a double into a single + runner advance on error. This requires additional events to be inerted into the game, and we do not currently have a way of doing that. We will be adding more of these types of edit capabilities to a future version.

For now, the only way to make edits that add events to a play would be to use Undo back to that point, and re-enter from that point forward.

What type of hit was it originally scored ? Why i ask.. b/c

I recalled a similar issue .. and just went back and looked at a few games.. and in each case, multiple base hits (doubles, tripples), do not have the ability in pitch-by-pitch to change from hit to error - singles -yes, fielders choice -yes, but not doubles or tripples (did not have any in the park home runs to test). (Think this is an opportunity for FTM, in future version. )

Somewhat related, I have noticed that if have used "misc> assign error" to a person on a play, I can go edit it on/off and reassign person in pitch by pitch. but you can not come back to a play and add an error. Should you not be able to assign a misc error on any play, in pitch by pitch.?

Creating a new error would be a new event. Misc->Assign Error creates a new event in the database (which is editable like any other single event), but you can not add new ones after the fact.

I see my post got in after FTM clarified, ...

.. FTM clarified, it is intentional and by design, that at this time, you can not change a multiple base hit to a single with error. This pitch-by-pitch edit, restriction is intentional as part of the built in safe guards to protect the integrity of the play-by-play database and stats, given potential for interdependent events and ripple effects.. so not a bug... got it.

also relaxing edit restrictions , (where possible), is part of the ongoiung consideration list for future versions - understood

lastly, can't add an event in edit mode, only edit..

thanks
